Let's talk food!

Choosing the right food to feed your new puppy is crucial to their overall health and well-being and something that should be done with careful thought and consideration! I strongly recommend staying away from grain-free due to grain free foods possibly being linked to heart disease. I also like kibbles that are easy to find at local stores and won't cost you an arm and a leg. What works for 1 puppy might not work for the next. Some doodle puppies have a sensitivity to chicken. Some doodle puppies won't like the taste of lamb. It might take a little trial and error so I recommend buying a small bag of food to test out! Here are a few that I have tried and approve of!
Purina Pro puppy large breed options for chicken, lamb, salmon( Mr. Wilson was on this food for most of his puppy life)
Iams smart puppy large breed chicken based (easy to find and often makes the top puppy food list)
Eukanuba Large breed puppy chicken based
4 health puppy formula lamb based(This is my newest find and I am planning on trying the adult version salmon recipe out on Mr. Wilson) this food is found at tractor supply and can be put on smart ship.
American Journey chicken and brown rice. Be careful not to buy the grain free. (I have only used the adult formula but I really liked it for Mr. Wilson)
I have found that ordering from chewy online auto-ship works really well and has great prices. Mr. Wilson and Bruno have been on Purina pro most of their life. I have recently switched to a food I found on chewy called American Journey Salmon & Brown Rice. I have really liked it! I have found that salmon based food offer some great benefits for keeping a nice coat. At some point I plan on trying out the 4 health brand. Typically you don't want to change your dogs food as often as I have. But Mr. Wilson has done fine with it. The only thing I have noticed is he may have a slight sensitivity to chicken so we tend to stay away from chicken kibble! He does occasionally have chicken based treats and he does fine. Once my puppies are potty trained I have always chosen to free feed. Mr. Wilson and Bruno are free fed daily. Its always good to reach out to your vet if you have any questions. I can only tell you what I have experienced.
