There are several myths surrounding Doodle breeds that can lead to misunderstandings about their care and characteristics. Here are some common myths debunked:

1. **Myth: Doodles Are Hypoallergenic**

- **Fact**: While Doodles often have low-shedding coats, no dog is completely hypoallergenic. People with allergies may still react to Doodles, as allergens are present in dander, saliva, and urine. It's essential to spend time with a Doodle before adopting to see how allergies may be affected. A doodle puppy who comes from 2 FULLY FURNISHED parnets are considered to be as close as a poodle from a coat standpoint. However, you need to know what triggers your allergy because it might be saliva and not a dogs coat type.

2. **Myth: Doodles Are Just a Fad**

- **Fact**: Doodles have gained massive popularity in recent years, but they are not just a passing trend. They are a unique hybrid breed with desirable traits, such as intelligence, friendliness, and low-shedding coats, making them wonderful beloved companions for many families.

3. **Myth: All Doodles Are the Same**

- **Fact**: Doodles come in various sizes and mixes, depending on the non-Poodle parent breed (e.g., Golden Retriever, Labrador, Bernese Mountain Dog). Each combination can result in different coat types, temperaments, and energy levels, leading to a wide range of personalities within the breed. I personally love multigens due to haveing a bit more control in all of these areas.

4. **Myth: Doodles Don’t Need Grooming**

- **Fact**: Doodles require regular grooming to maintain their coats and prevent matting. Depending on the coat type, they may need professional grooming every 4-8 weeks, along with regular brushing at home.

5. **Myth: Doodles Are Easy to Train**

- **Fact**: While Doodles are intelligent and often eager to please, training STILL requires time, patience, and consistency. Early socialization and positive reinforcement are essential for shaping their behavior and ensuring they become well-adjusted adults.

6. **Myth: Doodles Are Low-Energy Dogs**

- **Fact**: Doodles are typically energetic and require regular exercise and mental stimulation. Depending on the breed mix, they may need daily walks, playtime, and activities to keep them happy and healthy.

7. **Myth: Doodles Are Not Good Family Pets**

- **Fact**: Doodles are known for their friendly and sociable nature, making them great family pets. They often get along well with children and other animals, but proper introductions and supervision are still important.

8. **Myth: Doodles Have Health Problems Due to Their Hybrid Status**

- **Fact**: While hybrid breeds can inherit health issues from either parent, Doodles can also benefit from hybrid vigor, which may lead to FEWER genetic health problems. RESPONSIBLE breeding practices and health testing can further mitigate potential issues. COI is usually way higher in pure bred dogs as thier genetic diversity is usully much lower. I can talk more about what COI is in a future post.

9. **Myth: Doodles Are Expensive to Care For**

- **Fact**: Like any dog, the cost of owning a Doodle can vary widely based on factors such as grooming, veterinary care, and food. While initial purchase costs may be higher, regular care can be manageable with proper budgeting. A doodle isnt any more expensive than other dog breeds who need regular groomings.

10. **Myth: My doodle will be happy at home everyday**

- **Fact**: A bored doodle left home alone day after day may resort to destructive behaviors, such as chewing items in your home and barking excessively. Regular exercise and engagement can help prevent these issues. Goldendoodles especially are very social creatures!
